Advice for Pagan Teens When Coming Out of the Broom Closet

-Test the waters beforehand by mentioning a pagan site, reference in a TV show, newspaper article or book and see how they react.
-Explain your beliefs in a calm, rational manner when both parties are calm
-Be honest: the more you share with your parents about your life, the more accepting they might be.
-Do your homework. Learn everything you can and share your learning with your parents in a polite, respectful way. Not only will you benefit but your parents will get to learn about what you’re studying and why you’re interested.
-Lend them one of your books to read through or invite them to meet other pagans with you.
-Negotiate boundaries with your parents. Decide what classes you will take, what kinds of books you will study and what events you will attend etc.
