Handfasting Cake

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup of honey
5 eggs
2 cups flour
2 tablespoons grated lemon rind
2 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon rose water
Pinch of basil
6 fresh rose geranium leaves

Cream butter and sugar till light and blended. Add honey and stir. Add eggs one at a time and stir after each. Gradually add flour , stirring well as you add to blend. Stir in remaining ingredients and line the bottom of a greased 9 by 5 by 3 inch loaf pan with the rose geranium leaves. Pour the batter on top of the leaves and bake for an hour and 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Let the cake cool some then turn it out onto a plate. Sprinkle with sugar or drizzle a sugar and water mixture over the top before serving.
