Remedies for Women’s Issues

Dosages given are for *adults*. Unless specific dosage is labeled "for Children", *do not give to Children*. When you choose to self medicate, *you* are responsible for what you put in your body. If you show any symptom after ingesting an herb or any other substance that you do not normally ingest, stop taking the herb, etc., immediately. The symptom may or may not have something to do with the herb, etc., but you can always try again later, after the symptom has disappeared, to test if it was the herb, etc. I take no responsibility for your misuse of any of the recipes below- use at your own risk.

Cinnamon Tea for Menstrual Cramps

Combine 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 1 cup boiling water. This is a quick and effective way to alleviate the pain of menstrual cramps.
Mood Swings

For those of you suffering from mood swings here are the oils to use:

Bergamot, Clary Sage, Fennel, Frankincense, Geranium, Jasmine, Rosewood and Lavender.

Use in a bath (6-8 drops) massage oil ( up to 15 drops total per 1 oz. of carrier oil), inhalation ( 1-2 drops on a tissue and inhale) diffusion (10-15 drops in an electric or candle type diffuser.) If you are pregnant some oils may not be suitable.

Tea for Menstrual Cramps

Mix equal parts of Saint Johnswort leaves and rasberry leaves in boiling water for about 10 minutes.

Womens Complaints

Ginger, in hot ginger tea or mixed with milk, is an old remedy for pain associated with menstruation.
Other herbs reputed to ease mentrual cramps include allspice, angelica, bee balm, lemon balm, black haw, chamomile, feverfew, rosemary, thyme and valerian.
Celery seed is reputed to ease water retention
Decocted basil, in stron tea, can ease the pain of cramps and heavy periods.
Comsume raw garlic in your daily diet to prevent and treat yeast infections.
If you are trying to get pregnant, look for herbs that stimulate the reproductive system, such as peppermint and marigold flowers, ginseng, false unicorn root, and blue cohosh.
An infusion of basil can be effective for minimizing the night sweats of menopause.
Massage the temples with lavendar oil to ease anxiety
For melancholy or depression, drink rosemary tea by itself or combined with skullcap or vervain.
