Miscellaneous Remedies

Dosages given are for *adults*. Unless specific dosage is labeled "for Children", *do not give to Children*. When you choose to self medicate, *you* are responsible for what you put in your body. If you show any symptom after ingesting an herb or any other substance that you do not normally ingest, stop taking the herb, etc., immediately. The symptom may or may not have something to do with the herb, etc., but you can always try again later, after the symptom has disappeared, to test if it was the herb, etc. I take no responsibility for your misuse of any of the recipes below- use at your own risk.

Acne Recipe

20 drops of Lavender essential oil
1/4 cup (30ml) of witch hazel

Blend in a dark, glass bottle. Apply to oily skin and blemishes with a cotton ball, as needed.

Bergamot Tea

Bergamot is a rich source of thymol, an aromatic antiseptic. Helps nausea, vomiting and upset stomach. Infuse 1 teaspoon dried bergamot in one cup of boiling water. Steep for 15 minutes. Strain and add honey to taste.

Bronchitis

2 parts Elecampane, 1 part Goldenseal, 1 part Licorice, 1 part Wild Cherry Bark, 2 teaspoons Honey. Combine all the dry herbs together, insuring that they are well mixed. Take 1 ounce of the dry mixture and place in a 8 ounce jar, or a mug that can be covered completely. Pour 6 ounces over herbs and let steep for 15 to 20 minutes. Strain off the herbs and add 2 teaspoons of raw honey or to taste. Drink 6 ounces 3 times a a day.

Healing Tincture

Tinctures are not to be ingested!

Rosemary
Sage
Myrrh

Place the powdered herbs in an air tight container. Using a funnel, place a small amount of alcohol in the bottle just enough to wet the herbs. Shake and keep in a dark place for a week, shaking everyday. Strain and repeat again. Strain and add a glycerin or a carrier oil to stabilize. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS THIS TO BE CONSUMED. Can be used to annoint magickal tools and used as an incense paper. Burn this while visualizing a healing. Can be stored for use later. Incense papers are the best in this.

Lavender Water (for skin complaints)

5 cups of freshly cut lavender flowers
1 gallon of spring or distilled water

Boil the water and put it in a large glass jar with the fresh flowers. Leave the jar out in the sun for 24 hours. Give it a shake every now and then. Filter out the lavender and store in a spray bottle or atomizer in the fridge. You can adjust the amount of fresh lavender to your liking. You can also add a few drops of the essential oil after it has been taken out of the sun. This is great for sunburns, itching, any type of rash, insect bites, to cool off in the summer heat or just as a light floral scent.

Miscellaneous Remedies

Smelling Salts

1/2 tablespoon of coarse salt
10 drops of Lavender essential oil

Place the salt in a glass container with a lid. Add the essential oil, and with the lid on, shake the salt to blend. When you are feeling faint or dizzy occurs, open your smelling salts and putting the container fairly close to the nose, breathe in deeply of the essence. Use as needed. If this mixture is kept in a dark glass container, in a cool, dark, dry place it will last for up to 6 months.

Sinusitis

1 part Echinacea, 1 part Goldenrod, 1 part Goldenseal, 1 part Marshmallow leaf. Mix all ingredients together and use 1-2 teaspoons per cup of boiling water. Simmer for 15 minutes and drink 1 cup every 2 hours.

Tonsillitis

2 parts Echinacea, 2 parts Poke root, 2 parts Red Sage, 1 part Blam of Gilead. Mix all herbs together and use 1-2 tsp per cup of boiling water. simmer for 10 minutes and drink 1 cup every 2 hours.
