![]() Brigid Amor Salt Dough 2 cups (500 ml or .5 liter) flour 2 cups (500 ml or .5 liter) salt About 1 cup (250 ml) water Mix flour, salt, and water to make a stiff mixture. Knead mixture for about ten minutes to dissolve salt. Clay is ready to shape. Clay can be darkened with the use of coffee instead of water, dyed with food color and scented with herbs and essential oils. Dough Recipe 1 cup (250 mL) all-purpose flour 1/2 cup (125 mL) salt 2 tbsp (25 mL) cream of tartar 1 cup (250 mL) water 1 tbsp (15 mL) cooking oil food colouring In a pot, mix together the flour, salt and cream of tartar. Stir in the water and oil. Cook the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring constantly. When the mixture is thick and smooth, turn off the stove and remove the pot. Spoon the dough out onto a counter that’s dusted with flour. Allow it to cool for a few minutes. Divide the dough into two or three balls. Knead a different food colouring into each ball until the colour is even. If the dough gets sticky, mix in a bit more flour. Store each colour of dough in a separate plastic bag or tub. Herbs can be added to scent or color clay as needed. Magickal Clay 1 Cup Flour 2 teaspoons Cream of Tartar 1/4 Cup Sea Salt 1 Cup Water(infused with herbs) 1 teaspoon Food Coloring -Pour 1 cup boiling water over herbs and steep 10 min. -Strain out herbs and tint water corresponding color with food coloring. -Pour water in a saucepan and add flour, cream of tarter, salt and oil. -Stir deosil over medium flame until it resembles play dough. -Remove from heat and cool to touch. -Kneed until smooth. Once you’ve created your dough with one of the 3 recipes listed above, roll out dough out to approximately a half inch thickness. Using cookie cutters, egg cups or even a knife, cut out enough runes to cover the system you choose to use. Before baking, you may want inscribe your symbols on your runes. Bake your runes about 300 degrees until you can tap them and hear a hollow or solid sound. Feel free to paint your runes with any color you like (purple is often a good color as it is symbolic of divination) and paint your rune symbols in another color.
