For Hair

Herbal Shampoo For All Hair Types

-2 C distilled water
-1 tbsp calendula (pot marigold)
-2 tsp rosemary
-1 tbsp nettle
-2 tsp orange peel
-2 tsp comfrey
-2 tsp chamomile
-1/2 tsp essential oil of lavender
-1 tsp jojoba oil (omit if hair is oily)
-1/2 C all-natural, gentle baby shampoo

Bring water to a boil and remove from heat. Add the herbs, cover, and allow to steep for 30 minutes. Strain mixture into a medium-sized bowl, add the oils and stir vigorously. Add the shampoo and gently stir until thoroughly mixed. Pour into a labeled bottle and keep refrigerated to preserve the freshness. You may keep a small bottle in the shower with enough shampoo for about one week, if you wish. Use approximately 1 tablespoon (15 ml) per application. This shampoo will not produce mountains of billowy suds as it does not contain strong foaming agents. It cleans gently with minimal suds.

Chamomile Fields Shampoo

-4 bags of Chamomile tea (or 1 handful of fresh Chamomile flowers)
-4 tbsp pure soap flakes
-1 1/2 tbsp glycerin

Let the tea bags steep in 1 1/2 cups of boiled water for 10 minutes. Remove the tea bags and with the remaining liquid add the soap flakes. Let stand until the soap softens. Stir in glycerin until mixture is well blended. Pour into a bottle. Keep in a dark, cool place.

Rosemary Shampoo, Lemon Rinse

-15ml of rosemary oil
-1 egg yolk
-15ml of glycerin.

Mix all the ingredients together then rub into wet hair. Leave mixture in your hair for about 10 minutes, then work into a lather. Wash hair well before rinsing shampoo off in warm water. To make the rinse, you need 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and 4 drops of rosemary oil. Mix both ingredients well in a cup of warm water then rinse through hair.

Cleopatra's Hair Conditioner

-1/2 C honey
-1/4 C olive oil

Prepare the formula the day before you plan to use it. Shake well before applying. In a jar mix honey and olive oil. Cover tightly and shake thoroughly. Before shampoo, massage solution over all of hair briskly. Leave in for 10 minutes (cover your head loosely with a plastic bag if possible). To remove the solution, thoroughly shampoo hair 2 or 3 times. Restores life and vigor to broken, split ends. Also calms excessive frizzies. Recommended for dark hair only.

-20 drops lavender essential oil

This rich, decadent treatment is dessert for your hair. Microwave jar of coconut oil, or set in hot water to melt. Mash avocado and blend in with oil. Add lavender essential oil before the oil solidifies. Keep in glass jar at room temperature. To use, take a generous amount in the palm of your hands and smooth all over hair, massaging hair and scalp. Leave on for one hour and then wash off and follow with a mild shampoo.
