Recipes for the General Body Use

General Body Use

Rose Oil Body Talc

-90 g French chalk
-50 g cornflour
-4 g magnesium carbonate
-6 g calcium carbonate (regular chalk)
-1 tbsp Orris root powder
-3 tbsp rosemary water
-1 tsp rose oil

Mix well until the powder feels dry. Once it is dry, sieve and store the power in empty commercial talc containers.

To Help Heal Bruises

-3 tsp of dried Marigold flowers (Calendula officinalis)
-1 C boiled water

Allow the flower heads to steep in the hot water for 5 minutes. Strain. Allow to cool. Wipe the bruised area with the decoction, then cover with a bandage.

Foot Scrub

-1/4 C (59 ml) ground oatmeal
-1/4 C (59 ml) cornmeal
-1 tsp (15 ml) sea or table salt
-Essential oil of lemon or peppermint
-Water

Combine the dry ingredients with enough water to form a creamy, gritty paste. Add a few drops of essential oil and stir again. Sit on the edge of the bathtub or bench in the shower and massage feet with mixture. Rinse and dry. Apply a thick moisturizing cream mixed with a few drops of either essential oil.

Cuticle Conditioner

-10 ml cocoa butter
-10 drops lemon essential oil

Melt the cocoa butter in bowl placed over hot water. Stir in lemon essential oil. Pour mixture into jar and leave to set. (Can be placed in the fridge to speed setting, but then left at room temperature for use — for a softer, creamier application)

Rosemary Footbath Salts

-3 tbsp Epsom salts
-2 tbsp baking soda
-3 drops rosemary oil
-3 tbsp table salt

Mix ingredients in a bowl of hot water. Soak for 20 minutes to relieve tired aching feet.

Sweet Apple Deodorant

-Full strength Apple Cider
-Lavender or violet oil

Apply cider directly to underarm area. Then add a drop of the oil to the area. This deodorant may sting slightly when first applied. Vinegar odor disappears after cider has dried. Use once or twice a day as an inexpensive, long-lasting deodorant with a fresh, clean smell and no chemical additives.

Body Sugaring
(I wouldn’t recommend doing this if you have low pain tolerance- it’s worse than wax for some people.)

-1 C sugar
-Half a lemon for the juice
-1/4 C honey
-A little bit of Molasses (if you have any- like a drizzle)
-Cornstarch (to powder with for tautness making it more effective)
-Something to spread the mixture with like a tongue depressor, popsicle stick, cheese spreader or spatula.
-Cotton fabric (any old thing you can find or buy some strips at a store)

Mix lemon, sugar, and honey in a bowl. Microwave on high for about 2-3 minutes, until it bubbles into a smooth consistency. I find this a lot simpler then turning on the stove, but it would be safer if you watched over the heat on the stove. If you use the stove use LOW heat. Now move away from the mixture and go do something while it cools a little down so you can touch it safely. A little bit warmer though is better though to use. Microwave it for 20 seconds if you find the need to.

Make sure your legs or where ever you wish to place it is clean and dry. Then dust area with cornstarch so it’s more effective as it draws out oil. Spread a thin layer on your leg. Cover with a strip of fabric, and rubbing the strip the opposite way of hair growth, about 3 times.

Grab the fabric end and pull it off very quickly against the direction of the hair growth or the other way if you wish. It will hurt, but after awhile it’s a lot less painful. I’m sure you’re strong enough to withstand pain. Reheat the mix if it gets too hard to spread. This stores for a long time.
