Recipes for the Bath


Basic Bubble Bath

-5 drops fragrant oil or essential oil (your choice)
-1 quart water
-1 bar castille soap (grated or flaked)
-1 1/2 oz glycerin

Mix all ingredients together. Store in a container. Pour into running water.

Basic Bath Salts

-Salt (Epsom, Sea or Kosher Salt)
-Baking soda
-Essential oil of your choice
-Food coloring (optional)

Pour the salt, the essential oils, and a few drops of food coloring into the bowl. Fill the jar. When it's time to use the bath salts, pour the mixture into the bathtub and add warm water. Stir the water so the salt dissolves.

Rosemary Basil Bath

-2 tbsp dried rosemary
-1 tbsp sweet basil

Place mixture into a muslin bag and put one or two bags in a tub of very hot water. When the water has cooled enough to get in it and the herbs have perfumed the water get into the tub for a fragrant and refreshing bath.

Minty Fresh Bath

-1 C fresh or 1/4 cup dried mint (chop up finely if its fresh)
-1 C fresh bay leaves -finely chopped
-1 tsp coconut oil
-1 tsp of almond extract

Mix ingredients together then place in a mesh bag such as cheesecloth. Place under hot running water. Sit back & enjoy.

Milk Bath

-3 C powdered milk
-1/4 C oatmeal
-1/4 C dried Orris root (has a soft violet scent)
-1/3 C almond meal
-1 capsule vitamin E (break open into dry ingredients)
-1/3 C cornstarch

Makes enough for a few baths. Combine ingredients make sure its completely mixed. Store in a container. When you are ready to add it to your bath, scoop the desired amount of the mixture and tie securely in a muslin bag or even a face cloth will do. Tie to the faucet allowing the warm water to run over the bag.

Herbal Bath for Tired Muscles

-1 tsp pine
-1 tsp juniper
-1 tsp thyme
-1 tsp lavender
-1 tsp rosemary

Combine and add to a warm bath. If you don’t wish to add the herbs directly to the water (it can get like a soup), gather them into a square of cheesecloth and tie off with a piece of uncolored string.

Herbal Bath for Relief of Depression

-1 tsp rose
-1 tsp geranium
-1 tsp lavender
-1 tsp patchouli

Combine and add to a warm bath. If you don’t wish to add the herbs directly to the water (it can get like a soup), gather them into a square of cheesecloth and tie off with a piece of uncolored string.

Sugar And Spice Herbal Bath

-1/2 C baking soda
-2 tbsp Borax
-2 tbsp sugar
-1 tsp ground cinnamon
-1/2 tsp ground ginger
-1/4 tsp ground cloves
Blend and add two tablespoons of this mixture to your bath water (warm water is best). Store the mixture in a clean, dry container. Not recommended for sensitive skin as herbs are quite strong and can irritate.

Oriental Bath

-2 tbs epsom salt
-1 tbs lemongrass
-1 tbs ginger cut
-1 tbs lemon verbena
-1 tbs comfrey leaf
-1 tbs orange peel
-1 tbs chamomile
-1 tbs jasmine flowers
-1 tbs green tea

Coconut Cream Milk Bath

-3 tbsp powdered coconut milk
-OR 1 can of coconut milk
-1 vanilla pod

Add coconut milk with a split (sliced lengthwise) vanilla pod to a warm bath.

Herbal Bath for Stress Relief

-1 tsp lemon balm
-1 tsp rose
-1 tsp jasmine
-1 tsp sage
-1 tsp lavender

Combine and add to a warm bath. If you don’t wish to add the herbs directly to the water (it can get like a soup), gather them into a square of cheesecloth and tie off with a piece of uncolored string.

After Bath Citrus Body Mist

-1 C distilled water
-1 C vodka
-1/8 C glycerin
-1 tsp vitamin E
-15 drops Lemon Essential Oil
-15 drops of Orange or Tangerine Essential Oil
-15 drops Grapefruit Essential oil
-1 drop yellow food coloring (Optional)

Blend all ingredients and store in spray bottle. Use after shower to refresh. Shake before use. Hint: Store in the fridge for a great summertime surprise.

Fizzy Bath Bombs

-1 C baking soda (Bicarbonate of Soda)
-1/2 C cornstarch
-1/2 C citric Acid
-1 tbsp almond oil (or your preferred substitute)
-1 tsp fragrant oils

-Spray bottle of Witch Hazel

Mix the measured ingredients together. Spritz with witch hazel until moist enough to clump together if you pinch some in your hand, but not until fizzing. Pack tightly into molds, dixie cups, mold into balls in your hands, etc. Let dry overnight. When dry and hard, wrap tightly in cellophane or keep in an air/watertight container. To use, drop one or two in a bathtub of warm water.

Come to Your Senses Body Splash

-90 ml distilled water
-5 drops lemon essential oil
-5 drops sweet orange essential oil
-5 drops lime essential oil
Combine the ingredients and store in a pretty, pretty bottle — preferably with an atomizer. Spritz or splash all over, for a fresh, rejuvenating scent and jump-start for your day or when you need a little boost!
